Where is The Polish Hoochie?

Hi Guys,

I'm sure you are all wondering where I have been. I had a bunch of polishes I wanted to swatch for Halloween....

I am here to tell you I am still here, but I had a terrible incident occur Tuesday evening. My Significant Other, Kelly, had a massive Heart Attack Tuesday of this past week. He was air lifted from our home in efforts to save his life. He was revived 3 times prior to being air lifted, and I was sure that was the last night I would see him alive. His life was hanging on a thread. Thanks to my local EMT's, Air Vac team, and Doctors and Nurses they saved his life. He had a 100% blockage on his right main artery and 95% blockage on his left main artery. The Doctor said it was miracle he was alive. He basically fought hard to stay alive.

After many uncertain hours, many sleepless nights, and many countless hours spending praying for his life, God was good and did not take him from me, it just wasn't his time. I feel very blessed that he remains in our lives.

We returned home from the hospital. Kelly is doing really good, but we have a long way to go for full recovery. I have to be his full-time nurse for a bit. We will be involved in a Cardio Rehabilitation Program for the next 12 weeks for 3 days a week, in addition to countless hours of Cardiologist appointments.

I had posted this on Facebook, and I want to thank all of you that sent out Prayers and good wishes. Keep praying as Kelly has a long recovery. I hope you guys understand that here and my Facebook have to go silent for awhile. I will be here when I can :) Thanks guys!!!!

Trelly's M.I.S.C Trick or Trelly

Tonight we continue on with the Halloween polishes. I am going to try really hard to get ALL my Halloween polishes up before the 31st, but I make no promises lol. I also dressed the blog up for Halloween and I hope you guys like it. It's very obnoxious with colors, but Halloween is supposed to be flashy right?? lol.

Tonight I have Trelly's M.I.S.C.'s Trick or Trelly. How cute is that name, lol!! It's so perfect and so creative. I easily fall in love with polishes with cute names.

This is two coats of Model's Own Green Grass with two/three dabbed coats of Trick or Trelly. This is topped off with one thick coat of Seche Vite fast drying top coat.

I love bar glitter, and I know a lot of you just cringed lol. Bar glitters are not bad if you know how to apply them properly. I love how they add to the round and hex glitters in this.

BAR GLITTER TIP: I hate when you brush on bar glitter and they all point the same direction. TRY THIS. When you brush on a bar glitter, brush them on from cuticle to free edge AND then side to side as well. It helps to get your bar glitters pointing in different directions and not all the same (which does not look so great).

I love Trelly's, and this is no exception :) I purchased this off her ETSY shop, but Cassie, the owner, has moved over to Big Cartel. Check her new shop out HERE.

No need to fish for any glitters here, they easily stuck to the brush.  I did not thin this polish I usually do. The formula was thick, but for dabbing polish on it's better to have some thickness.

This is gorgeous and sparkly and one of my favorites that I have purchased for this Halloween season.

I will have more Trelly's up from the Fall Line as well, as soon as I get through all the Halloween ones LOL!!! :)

Hope you guys like this. Please leave your thoughts below. I look forward to reading everyone's comments every day!

Review of Trelly's M.I.S.C Oogie Boogie...Do You Believe in Magic?

Do you guys believe in Magic? I actually do after today...and Magic from Claire's.

I have no idea why I have never used this, but this polish is pretty AMAZING!!! I purchased this at Claire's quite a long time ago, I'm not even sure they still make it? I will let the pictures speak for themselves...

This is three coats with no top coat. I was applying glitter so I didn't top coat it in between.

This has a gorgeous dark purple color with a lighter purple shimmer that is very visable.

Crazy gorgeous for sure, isn't it? I then topped it with Trelly's M.I.S.C Oogie Boogie. This polish is from Cassie's 2012 Halloween Collection and you can still purchase this at Trelly's Big Cartel Shop HERE.

My camera was confused at the gorgeous glitter here lol. It was tough to get my camera to appreciate the real look of this. I can not even explain how outrageous and glittery this is. In person its 1000 times more gorgeous.

This is 2 dabbed on coats of Oogie Boogie. I did not thin this because I wanted the glitters to be very chunk. Everything stuck to the brush super easy and there was no digging involved.

In the light it is BLINDING, in a good way :) I could not stop staring at this.

I topped this of with one coat of Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter Food and one coat of Seche Vite. Smooth operator :)

WOW is my reaction to this one. What do you guys think?

Rainbow Polish Monarch

I actually did this manicure Sunday morning in my hotel room and I did it in like 5 minutes. I didn't do any cleanup and it was rush rush. I lost track of time and had no choice but to rush it out. We needed to get on the road, and I did not want to delay things if I could help it. Things aren't always so perfect, and it's not up to my regular standards, but I still wanted to share it with you all. Things can't always be perfect lol.

I knew I wanted to use purple as a base when I purchased this. The sample swatch that was shown on the Rainbow Polish Etsy Store HERE used purple, and for this one I wanted to duplicate the look.

This is two coats of BB Couture Joker (the perfect purple for Halloween) and one coat of Rainbow Polish Monarch. I love the way the colors pop against the purple background. This polish would also be awesome over a white base.

I loved the consistancy of this polish. It was really easy to work with and gave me no issues. I was greatful, since I was such in a rush to have to apply it.

Rainbow polishes are my new indie obsession, I really do love them. I have several others, including Pheasant that I won on their Facebook contest so you guys will be seeing more of these.

These glitters lay so flat, and I was really pleased with the polish over all. I only have a really thin coat of Seche Vite on these, I didn't have time for much more, and it feels very smooth.

Thanks for visiting tonight. I'm hoping that I can get a second post up tonight. I'm trying real hard to get all my Halloween polishes up before the 31st, but I make no promises lol.

Candy Lacquer Vampire Kiss

Halloween Manicures continue. Tonight I have Candy Lacquer's Vampire Kiss. I think this is like the first Halloween polish I purchased in my collection of Halloween 2012 polishes. It really caught my eye.

First, I want to say I have no idea why my fingers get so shiny looking when I wear black polish, but that is just the case. I do not have oil or cream of any sort on my hands. I avoid cuticle oil like the plaque before pictures lol. My skin looks pale and shiny and slightly corpse like...just perfect for Halloween lol. I have jet black hair so I love sporting jet black nails.

I also have my new SUPER nubbins tonight. I normally do not like wearing my nails long. My nails had gotten so long (for my standards) lately, so I attacked them with a file. I got a little carried away with it lol. I'm not worried as they grow back really fast.

How gorgeous is this!!!! I was ohhhhing and ahhhhing as I applied it and realized what a beauty it is. Now please note, there are black glitters in this mix as well, but since my base is black you only see the purple and the red glitters.  If you look really close you can see a black diamond shaped glitter on my middle finger in the lower left hand corner.

Check out the gorgeous diamond shape purple glitters, and the red heart glitters. It definitely makes me think of a Vampire Kiss. Sandra at Candy Lacquer really is amazing with her polishes and her naming of them. The women has some serious Skillz.

This is two coats of Wet n Wild Black and 2/3 coats of Vampire Kiss. I brush and I dab on, so it's difficult to actually count the coats do to the dabbing method.

I also have one one coat of Nail Pattern Boldness's Glitter Food as a Top Coat. I have fallen for this stuff big time. It's really amazing. It's super thick and levels out everything so well. There is a learning curb to it, but once you get it you will never go without it again. It's a must have for all glitter polishes. It does dry matte, so I also layer on one thick coat of Seche Vite to bring back the shine and dry things up!

I'm thrilled with this polish, and so glad I purchased it.  You can purchase this polish HERE. She is making the very last batch of this, so grab it while you can. I think it would be awesome for Valentine's Day too.

Hope you guys like this one, it's love for me. Let me know what you think.

Thanks for looking guys!

Born Pretty Store Review and an Awesome Halloween Tape Mani

Today I have something seriously AWESOME!!!

I have been seeing tons of manicures in the nail blog world using striping tape, and I have been really interested in getting some to experiment with. I do not do nail art, so I thought striping tape would be a fun easy way to add some excitement to my manicures.

I wasn't all too familiar with how to purchase tape, and really wasn't sure where to get it.  Many suggested purchasing on Ebay, but lots of us do not use Ebay. So, when the Born Pretty Store approached me and asked if I would like to review some of their products, I jumped at the opportunity. They allowed me to pick a product I liked, and of course I picked the striping tape!

This is what I received in my package...

First I would like to say that this package was delivered to me SUPER FAST from over-seas. I got this package quicker than I get things in the U.S. I'm still not sure how they got it to me this fast. I am very pleased with the excellent shipping. The packaging was excellent as well, everything was  nicely packed.

The package retails for $8.99 (wow, awesome price) and you receive all 12 colors.  WOW again is all I can say. The best part...FREE SHIPPING on every order. That is something I am all on board with. Sometimes shipping can kill us with ordering online. These rolls are packed with tape in every color I can think of. I was beyond impressed with this set. Here is a link to the item if you are interested in checking it out HERE. The store is loaded with awesome other nail art items for great prices as well.

You also get 10% off your order with the following Code: EPL91. I have added this to my sidebar as well for all future orders you may want to place.

Look at all the colors I received...

the 12 colors included are...Gold, Pink, White, Deep Green, Red, Deep Blue, Neon Rose, Silver, Brown, Light Blue, Green, Purple.

I was really excited and decided I was going to dive right in and do a striping manicure!!! I thought about it and had no ideas, but last week while I was lurking around the MakeupAlley Nail Board I ran into a post by nrohloff that was AMAZING, she is brilliant for this idea. I knew immediately I had to recreate it. The MUA post is HERE for you to see.

This is the Inspiration Picture...
As a kid I was obsessed with The Wizard of Oz, so I really fell in love with this idea. Thanks so much nrohloff for this wonderful idea, here is my interpretation of this ...

Review of Trelly's M.I.S.C Spiked Witch's Brew

Halloween Manicures continue... Tonight's spotlight is Trelly's M.I.S.C Spiked Witch's Brew. As many of you know that follow me, I love these polishes. They have quickly climbed to the top of my favorites in my Indie Collection. You can purchase Trelly's HERE.

Spiked Witch's Brew!

This is two coats of Model's Own Lime Green with two coats of Spiked Witch. I love how this layering combination turned out.

I am a big fan of these matte 'sand' type polishes.

The color combo in this one is WOW. Teal Green, Black, White, Yellow....a GORGEOUS MIX!!!

I did not thin this polish. I wanted to layer it thickly on my base coat. This polish is so dense it really doesn't need a base. I almost wore it alone, but loved the thought of mixing it with Lime Green.

These 'sand' type polishes tend to dry with a gritty finish. I highly recommend Nail Pattern Boldness's Glitter Food topped with Seche Vite. You can get a really smooth finish this way.

Check out this close up ... Ba-BAM lol. I love this. I'm so glad this is part of my collection. What do you guys think of this? Do you like it with the Lime Green base? Leave your thoughts below in the comments. I really enjoy reading them all.

Giveaway Winners and Nail-Venturous Humble Bee

My party is finally over :) It was a fun day and a very very busy week with planning and prep work. This is what I wore for my party. I had a Steelers shirt on that was Grey, White, Yellow and Black and I thought this would be a cute match. I'm actually a Jets fan lol, but Kelly is a Steelers fan so sometimes I wear it for him.

FIRST GIVEAWAY WINNERS

400 Facebook Likes : Lydia Thompson (giving her extra time since I was MIA this weekend)

500 Facebook Likes: Sammi Trex

600 Facebook Likes Giveaway: Patricia Knetzer

I have sent each of you an email - you all have 24 hours to reply with your mailing address to thepolishhoochie@gmail.com

Nail-Venturous Humble Bee.

I have this in the 'new' bottle style, which I am not honestly a fan of. Kind of makes it look generic in a way. Oh well, I wasn't able to nab a bottle before they changed them so I'm stuck with this one lol.

You can purchase this at Ninja Polish for those of you that like it. On to the nail pictures...

How freakin amazing is this?!!! I LOVE this. The layering combo isn't anything to call home about. My base color is Wet n Wild Black which is cheap, but effective!

These pictures where takin' late in the day - after my party. They went threw party prepping, cupcake frosting, decorating, and a ton more.  No chips, no wear marks - gotta love Wet n Wild Black for great wear (at least for me). I didn't even refresh the top coat, and it's still super shiny :)  I used one coat of NYC Grand Central Station and one coat of Seche Vite Top Coat earlier in the morning.

The pictures really speak for themselves. I'm in love with this polish. It was super easy to apply too. The only suggestion I make with this combo is make sure your Black base coat is dry and that you layer it with a top coat prior to applying Humble Bee. I got a few bald spots on my black since I didn't use a top coat to seal the black.

Do I look like a bumble Bee? Well, I'm deathly allergic to them lol but I still love this polish.

What do you guys think? Do you like this one? Do you have it on your wishlist? All I can say is it's the Bee Knees. Yup, I said it. I'm an official DORK lol :)

Review of Naild'it Bibbity Boobity BOO

Today I have a really neat polish for you guys. This one is from Naild'it. These polishes can be purchased at Llarowe. Naild'it is one of my favorite Indie polishes, and for good reason too ....

Here is Bibbity Boobity Boo, created for Halloween 2012.

I layerd this over BB Couture's Joker. I love this purple, and I feel it's perfect for that 'Halloween Purple'. Does that make sense? You all know what I mean hopefully, lol. That purple that works perfect for Halloween time.

This has such an awesome background shimmer to this polish. I also love the glitter colors in this. The rusty orange, the light blues, and the deep purples are such a perfect blend. It just works together so well.

Andrea of Naild'it really knows how to work with her color combinations with glitters. I think this is why I love her so much, lol. These colors are really unique in my collection. I do not have anything else that is even similar to the look of this polish.

How fun is this for Halloween. I think it works just perfect with a purple base like I have it pictured here..

This is sparkle beauty at it's best. The glitters lay very flat in this. There were no bumps and lumps at all. I did use Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter Food (aka Fix a Flat) as a top coat with a layer of Seche Vite over it, and I'm 100% smooth. Glitter food can also be found at Llarowe and I highly recommend this if you are a Glitter Indie junkie like myself.

If you are wanting to try an Indie for the first time, I highly recommend Naild'it. I sum Naild'it up as great polishes and great customer service, that's all I ask out of an indie company, and Naild'it does not disappoint

Do you guys like this? What are your thoughts on this polish? Does anyone own this, and if you do please leave me links to your blog pictures if you do. I love to see the different versions people come up with suing these types of polishes!

Review of Trelly's M.I.S.C Hopeful

Tonight I have another Pink polish for you guys. This one is Hopeful from Trelly's M.I.S.C., my new favorite indie nail polish obsession lol. Trelly's M.I.S.C will be launching this tomorrow on her new big Cartel site found HERE. You can follow Trelly's on Facebook HERE to find details about launch times.

This polish was created for Breast Cancer Awareness for this month. I can not rave enough about Trelly's. I purchase a LOT of Indie polishes and I have to say these are among my favorites. The quality is excellent. I have a feeling this indie brand is really going to take off.

Here is Hopeful...

WOW!!! This polish just floored me. I had seen previews of this on Trelly's Facebook page and I had a feeling it was going to be amazing. I was not wrong!

I started with 2 coats of China Glaze Make an Entrance.

On a side note, this China Glaze is AMAZING as well. It went on effortlessly and this was two simple coats. If all my polishes applied this easy I would be in nail polish heaven lol!

Next, I layered on three coats of Hopeful. I brushed this on and dabbed it on too. When you have a polish that is this glitter packed, the dabbing effect really helps to distribute the glitters nicely. I did thin this before using (about 3/4 drops of thinner).

This polish is packed with Sparkle. The quality of these glitters are fabulous.

Is this not drool worthy or what?!

As my top coat I used Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter Food (aka Fix a Flat). If you guys are wearing lots of these indie glitter polishes, Glitter Food is a must have top coat. There is a learning curve to using it, but once you get it down you can get most glitters 100% glass smooth. It is self leveling and perfect for glitters. Glitter Food does dry Matte, so I topped it with one coat of Seche Vite Top Coat.

...and for your viewing pleasure, I created a video. I wanted to show you guys just how crazy sparkly awesome this is.

I darkened the lightening in my room so that you get the effect of the Sparkles. There was no sun out today, so I was forced to do this indoors. It's a goofy video, I can not wait to see all the thumbs down I get on it LOL.

Hope you guy got a good giggle at this.

Thanks for visiting!
