My New Ott Light and Untried No. 9 : Milani Hi-Tech 3D

Usually I only post one untried a weekend, but today I ended up doing another untried. So I figured I would come share it with you guys.

First I wanted to show you guys my new Ott light :) This is the light I use to take my pictures.

I purchased this at Jo-Ann Fabrics. They were having a 40% off OTT lights for Presidents Day, plus I used a 10% off coupon as well. This ended up costing me $USD 24.00!  What a deal. This was originally close to 50$'s regular price. It is still currently on sale, so you can still pick it up for the sale price.

I set it up and used it for my next Untried. Milani High-Tech 3D.

I really like how the light shows off the Holo in this polish. You get wonderful detail with it.

It is a gorgeous polish, and is now added to my Top 10 list. It was so easy to apply and it dried really fast. This is the perfect go to polish when you want a quick and easy mani.

I couldn't help but take a lot of pictures of this.

Then I decided to take it outside for the sun light. unfortunately the day was ending.

I think with the sun setting they came out really cool.

Hope you guys like it! Thanks for visiting.

Untried No.7 - Wet n Wild Night Prowl & Checkered Tape Mani!

I'm a little early with my Untried Saturday this week :) I used Wet n Wild Night Prowl for this one, which is GORGEOUS in every way. I can't believe I had this one sitting for so long.

I decided to try a checkered tape mani today. I have been wanting to try this for awhile and I finally got to it! It's no where near perfect, but for my first time I'm really pleased with how it turned out.

I started out with night Prowl as my Base color.

Check out the Sparkle!

I then taped off one half of the nail using Scotch Tape and added Milani Digital until I got this...

After that I added a layer of SV and waited 15 minutes, and then finished it off and taped off the other half of the nail.  This is the final result.

I love it!

Hope you guys like it as much as I do.

P.S. Please make sure you enter my 200 Followers Giveaway if you haven't already :)

THANKS for VISITING!

Untried Saturday No.6 - Hard Candy Lava

Sorry it's been so long for a post. I have been seriously sick with Bronchitis and Pneumonia, having to have sessions of steroid shots just to keep me from seriously dying lol.  I did do an untried this week tho - Yippeeee!!!

Hard Candy - LAVA

For whatever strange reason I thought this would be more red on the nail, and it's mostly bright orange.  Why I thought it was more red is beyond me. It's pretty clearly orange in the bottle lol.

At first I hated this color and texture completely. After about half a day, it started growing on me and I really liked it. Very sparkly and eye catching.

But then I went back to hating this again. Here is why.

* It took 3 coats and sometimes 4 for the even coverage I was looking for. Hard to explain, but every layer seemed to just 'soak in', and I would just end up not pleased and going over it.

* I did this on Thursday (trying to be ahead with being sick and all) and it's Saturday and I have already taken it off. It chipped in 3 places and broke 2 of my nails. I never have chipping EVER let alone that soon, so it was super chiptastic.

*It stained my nails bright orange which is the worst of it. I was so proud about how clear and stain free my nails where prior to applying this, and now I'm just stabby looking down at the stains.  I had a very good base coat on that prevents staining on 99.9% of my polishes.

* There is fine micro glitter everywhere upon removal. I love glitter polishes and this was just a PITA. I took it off awhile ago, and I still see sparklies stuck to my fingers all over the place no matter how much I try and clean them off with polish remover or wash my hands. I just gave up lol.

With the combo of all of the above this polish quickly went into my dislikes of all time. I probably won't ever wear this again. I know I have heard many rave about this one, but for myself I just do not likey at all.

I'm tossing this into my swap away pile, and may just give it to kids for a play polish. I would hate to trade this to an unsuspecting recipient. I hated it that much lol. But, this is the great thing about polish guys. Some of us will love some polishes that others hate, and vice-versa.

If you have this one - let me know your thoughts on it. Did you like it or hate it?

Thanks for visiting guys. Make sure you enter my 200 Followers Giveaway if you haven't already.

On to Untried Saturday. I have been deathly sick the last 48 hours, so I'm kind just laying low. I still squeezed in a mani - yippee:) Not my best, but much better than going without. I didn't even have my camera settings right. The cough medicine took over and just started snapping bad pictures - but I'm showing them to you anyway LOL!   I guess even being close to death does not stop me from painting my nails and trying to post here :)

Hope you guys like!

It's still very very pretty, and it basically applied its self.

It's a very soft pretty Grey

Untried No. 4 - Manglaze Matte is Murder & Salley Hansen Diamond Dust.

I found this beauty several years back in a Dollar Tree. Yes, you heard me correctly a Dollar Tree. I paid 1$ for this, and it was an amazing find!

I know I have heard many of us say that our Dollar Tree's never have anything good, well mine was the same way. I went time after time, hoping one day something magical would show up. Then, it happened. I stumbled upon this, and some others SH glitters. I've never found anything good there since. Maybe one day I will again, and maybe I won't lol.

*Essie Fill The Gaps base coat
*2 coats of Manglaze Matte is Murder
*1 coat of Sally Hansen Diamond Dust
*2 coats Gelous
*1 coat Poshe top coat

This was very tough to film indoors under artificial light. Tomorrow when the sun breaks out I'm going to try and photograph it again and post them here.

I bet tomorrow in the sunlight this thing is going to be stunning!

Thanks for Visiting on another Untried Saturday.

EDITED:

Here's a picture of it in the daylight outside.

Untried Saturday No. 3 - Nicole by OPI In Your Hands and NK Royal Blue Frost

My Untried Saturday Mani posted Late :) I tackled 2 untrieds in this one. The Layers are as follows...

*Essie Feed Me
*Essie Sensitivity Base Coat
*Nicole by OPI In Your Hands (3 thin coats - Blue    Jelly)
*NK Royal Blue Frost
*Essie Good to Go
*SV Ultra-V Top Coat

I figured it would be fun to start listing exactly what I use as my base, layers and top coats.

Next is with Flash

Super awesome texture showed up once I layered on the Royal Blue Frost

I got the Royal Blue Frost in a swap a couple of years back. These are my favorite type of polishes. I know there are lots of HTF (Hard to Find) polishes out there that are very popular, but the true treasure are the less known brands just hiding out in your collection.

What's hiding in your collection? Would love to hear about your Hidden Treasures, leave your thought below in the comments.

Untried No.2 - BB Couture Joker NOTD - Untried Saturday

Today is Untried Saturday here at ThePolishHoochie.  Today's Untried is BB Couture's Joker! The formula on this brand is A++. Very smooth and not clumpy and thick at all. This formula compares to some of my higher end polishes for sure.

Now since this is a purple it is one of the hardest polishes to photograph. To get the true purple color it is very tough, even with white balance adjustments.
These pictures are a the closest to the true purple as possible.

It's a gorgeous purple with a very delicate shimmer. These pictures show the shimmer as well, that is also extremely difficult to capture and only seen in very bright light at certain angles.  Most lights it looks like a creme purple.

I added Konad stamping and a Matte Top Coat onto my ring finger as an accent.

My thumb on that same hand was also Matted, along with a very cute pink heart decal.

Maybe a prelude to upcoming Valentine's Day :)

Check Out the shimmer in this polish - GORGEOUS-NESS!!!

Thanks for visiting me on Untried Saturdays. 2 Down and 51 more to go (lol). For the remainder of 2012 a new Untried from my stash will be showcased here on Untried Saturdays.

I will also continue to do my new purchased polishes on other days when I can.

*A new category was added to the left sidebar labels listing called Untried Saturday. This way if you miss any - you can check them out all in one easy to access place.*

Do you guys have BB Couture? If so, do you like them? My formula seemed just superb!

Untried No. 1 - RBL No More War NOTD and a Comparison

Today is the first day of my 2012 Untried Challenge. My first polish up is Rescue Beauty Lounge: No More War. I got this in a swap and I HAD to use. I absolutely LOVE LOVE this color. My Favorite Nail Polish Color is Green and these that are called Baby Puke (lol) are my favorite types of color. It is mind blowing.

I missed out on ordering this back in 2010 when RBL had their end of year 50% off sale. Soon after that sale I cut my hand and dropped out of polish for awhile. In the time of my absence from polish the color was discountinued. I have to say this was my biggest regret of all time.

After much waiting and searching, I was able to obtain this in a swap.  I have to say as of right now this is my favorite color in my collection of about 320 polishes.

On to the pictures...

YUMMY for me :)

It's a gorgeous green with a slight yellowish tint. A true Beauty all around.

I also decided to do a comparison with Zoya Dree as I myself was curious what the difference was.

Sorry for the messy swatch :) As you can see the colors are not even close. The Zoya is a true army green and the RBL is more yellow and deep.

For those of you that are interested, I am closely approaching 200 followers. My giveaway will be posted as soon as the 200th follower appears. Stay tuned!
