Julep Hand Scrub Review

Purchased by Me

Tonight I would like to do a quick review on Julep's Glycolic Hand Scrub. I received this sample in one of my past Maven boxes. To me a hand scrub is essential. It helps to remove dead skin after the use of a cuticle remover and helps to soften the sensitive skin around your nails and nail beds.

The consistency is a typical scrub. I like this one because it's not too harsh. It has a nice feel to it which is strong enough to get the job done, but not too scratchy for sensitive cuticles. It contains 10% glycolic acid and makes your hands so soft after just one use!

I use this all over my hands. It's even gentle enough to use on your face, according to the Julep web site.

I also like to use a scrub when I swatch polishes here on the blog. When you swatch a polish sometimes small bits of the polish remain on your skin after you remove it, and it can be very messy if you are wanting to swatch another polish right after. I use the scrub in between polishes changes and it makes my fingers feel and look fresh for each polish change.

The scrub retails for $23.00 and the Maven price is $18.40. I know that seems like a high price, but you only use a small amount for each use. You can also take advantage of discount codes or sales and grab a tube for a reasonable price.

I love this scrub and will be purchasing a full size bottle for sure.

Thanks for visiting!

Spellbound Nails and some Julep ...swatches and review

Press Sample

Tonight I have a FABULOUS pairing for you guys. I started with a base coat of Julep's Lauren. This is now my favorite pink polish. The formula on this polish is AMAZING, and I can pretty much say it is perfect. I don't think I have another polish that is this near perfection.  It's a gorgeous jelly like pink and if you don't own this, you really are missing out on fabulous.

The polish went on so easily, and the formula was flawless. This is 2 coats with one cot of Seche Vite as the top coat.

I topped Lauren with Spellbound Nails Madness is Catching.  Spellbound Nails is my new favorite Indie maker. The owner is super fabulous and I was honored to receive this polish for review.

Spellbound Nails can be found on Etsy HERE.

Need I say more? :) The pictures speak for themselves.

This polish is part of the Alice in Wonderland Collection. The nail polish is described on Etsy as containing nine different glitters in a clear base. It is a chaotic mix that just seems to work, not unlike the Mad Hatter himself.

Chaotic and amazing is my description!

I love the large fuchsia pink round dot glitters and the large white hex glitters. The combo of matte and shiny glitters is so fun, and works so well together. With the smaller green glitters it reminds me of a Juicy Watermelon. This Polish is perfect for the summer.

The formula was super on this polish, and I highly recommend this polish maker. Go check her out on Facebook too, and keep up to date with all the Spellbound Nails happenings. She also has amazing nails herself and does awesome nail art.

What do you guys think?

My first Julep Maven Starter Box!

Purchased by Me

I finally took the plunge and signed up for the Julep Maven Monthly Box. I contemplated it for months and months, and I finally went for it...about time already lol.

I received my first introductory starter box, and wanted to show you guys what was included....

I picked the BOHO GLAM starter b0x and it included 4 Items.

ITEM 1 - Sample of Julep Glycolic Hand Scrub

I'm anxious to try this out. I have basically run out of my current hand scrub and I am currently looking for a replacement, so this sample comes at a perfect time. I love using hand scrubs after I use my cuticle remover to help get off all that dead skin from the cuticle removal process.

ITEM 2: Julep Instant Warming Foot Scrub

This is another awesome product for me. I LOVE LOVE foot products lol. I can not wait to use this. I'm big into foot masks, foot scrubs, foot lotions and foot sprays...anything for the feet.

ITEM 3 & 4: POLISHES ROBIN and STEFANI

I am loving both of these colors. Robin looks exactly like a Robin Egg and Stefani is a gorgeous black. I decided since we are still in April that I would swatch ROBIN since I promised blue manicures for Autism Awareness for April.

This is my very first Julep polish and I can say, I didn't really love it. The formula on this particular color was a bit thick for me and I thinned the death out of it. Once I added the thinner it was better, but by no means perfect. I have a lot of these 'Tiffany' type color polishes and they are all similar to this in formula (too thick), so I will not judge Julep by this polish alone.

I decided to spruce it up a bit with a Jordana Glitter, in Cosmic. I purchased this a Kmart a couple of years ago and I finally broke it open today.

It's a simple glitter with just two sizes. There is a small fine micro glitter in  blue, and gorgeous medium sized hex shaped glitter in teal and silver holo so you get a rainbow of colors reflecting off them. It's super pretty and a lovely match for Robin.

This was very pretty and very sparkly, to say the least. More so than even my pictures show.

If you look closely above you can see pink, greens, blues etc reflecting of the silver holo hex glitter, so amazing.

I can not wait to get my first official Maven Box. Of course, I will share it here when I receive it.

If you are interested in becoming a Maven you can click the picture below to sign up...

Thanks so much for visiting guys and see you again soon!!!

Julep Spring Mystery Box

Purchased by Me

I got my Julep Spring Mystery Box!! This was a special spring box that was only offered for a limited amount of time at Julep.com. At this point it is no longer available. The price of the box was $24.99 USD. I received version 1 (there were several versions of this).

What was inside the box:
  • Chocolate Eggs for Easter
  • Nail File
  • Julep 30 Daylight Defense SPF Hand and Face Lotion
  • Julep One Step Nail Polish Remover Pad
  • 3 Julep Nail Polishes in Lauren, Camille, and Ashley
I am really pleased with the box. The hand and face lotion alone retails for $28.00 at Julep.com.

The box arrived REALLY quick for me. I was really pleased with how fast it arrived. I was surprised to see it in my mail box yesterday.

I also really love the polishes I received as well in this.

I have not used the remover pad yet, but I did use the Dalylight Defense. This morning on my way to work I decided to test it out.  Please note, I have only used this on my hands. My face is way too crazy to test anything new out on it right at this moment. I did use it as a hand lotion and I have to say I was pretty impressed. It is not greasy and and my hands felt so soft today. I use a lot of lotions, cremes, oils etc on my hands, so when a product comes along that makes my hands feel softer than they normally do, it gets my attention.

I also love the fact that it is SPF 30. I don't think any of my hand products have sun protection in them. I know how important this is to many. I like the thought of protecting my hands.

The lotion is listed on the box as a one step solution to beautiful hands, nails and skin. It contains Vitamin E and hydrates the skin and strengthens nails. I haven't used it long enough to confirm the strengthening part, but it has made my hands feel great today. I'm glad I got the box because this is a product I would not normally purchase on my own.

The lotion is:
  • Paraben and Sulfate Free
  • PABA free
  • Ideal for every day use

I have to admit I got a thrill opening the box not knowing what was inside. The mystery aspect of the box was really fun. Once I opened it, I gasped lol. It's so cold out here today in my part of Missouri, and we are expecting a MAJOR snow storm tonight, so this bright fun Spring box really brightened my day. I love the shredded grass, it was like getting a surprise Easter basket!!!

Left to right: Lauren, Camille, and Ashley

The nail file is your basic emery board style file. I only use crystal files, so I will pass this on to someone else. The color polishes I got are so nice!

Lauren is a fun bright Pink. This is totally my shade of pink, and I love it.  It's listed on the Julep.com as a hot tropical pink. Perfect for Spring and Summer too.

Camilie is not listed on Julep.com, so this may be Limited Edition. It's a pretty glitter top coat.

Ashley is also not listed on Julep.com, so I believe it may be Limited Edition as well. It's a gorgeous copper color and reminds me of a shiny penny.

I love my new box and I'm please that I ordered it.  I just recently became a Maven so you guys will see more Julep boxes in the future. My first Maven box is on it's way.

If you are a Maven, I would love to here your thoughts on it. Are you satisfied with your purchases? Did you have a nightmare experience with Julep?  I like to hear the negatives too.
