Untried No.7 - Wet n Wild Night Prowl & Checkered Tape Mani!

I'm a little early with my Untried Saturday this week :) I used Wet n Wild Night Prowl for this one, which is GORGEOUS in every way. I can't believe I had this one sitting for so long.

I decided to try a checkered tape mani today. I have been wanting to try this for awhile and I finally got to it! It's no where near perfect, but for my first time I'm really pleased with how it turned out.

I started out with night Prowl as my Base color.

Check out the Sparkle!

I then taped off one half of the nail using Scotch Tape and added Milani Digital until I got this...

After that I added a layer of SV and waited 15 minutes, and then finished it off and taped off the other half of the nail.  This is the final result.

I love it!

Hope you guys like it as much as I do.

When I get bored I ...

First I wanted to thank everyone that expressed concerns about me being sick. Today I am feeling much much better and I appreciate all the well wishes.

This is what happens when I get bored. Kelly brought me a bunch of nail art stuff to play with, and I was really bored...so I attacked my Vday Mani lol. It wasn't tacky enough, so I kicked it up some :)

I'm just experimenting before I take this mani off tomorrow. This is the best time to test new things and try new techniques. It's also the best time to practice stamping too. On an old mani that you are about to remove.

This is what I did to it. It's my first time using scotch tape for making tips and the lines are wayyyy off lol, but I really tossed this on for fun and I thought I would share my craziness with you.

Thanks for stopping by :)

(excuse my hurt ring finger cuticle in the pics - it got caught on something ouchy)

Valentine's Day Mani

Hope everyone is having a wonderful and happy Valentine's Day. Here is my V-day Mani. The Base coat is Essie E! Live from the Red Carpet.  I combined Konad stamping (scary I know lol), nail tattoos, and rhinestones to create my LOVE mani :) To me V-day always makes me think really over the top tacky hearts and lips all over everything. I wanted this to have that same look, so I made it as tacky as I could hehehe.

As most of you know I am a nightmare when it comes to stamping, but I never give up lol. I love the little lips that are part of Konad plate M4.

(Image above is Copyrighted property of www.konadnailart.com and used here for reference only)

Once I stamped the image I used a Q-tip and Acetone to wipe the lettering off the stamp before I transferred the remaining image to the nail. I wanted only the lips and not the 'kiss me' wording.

I also added a bob wired nail tattoos to the bottom for some contrast, and the final touch was a clear rhinestone.

I also added skull nail tattoos to my thumbs as well. Cute Cute :) and super V-day tacky for sure lol.

The amazing part is this time I only smeared the lip stamp a tiny tiny tiny bit. So I guess it's possible I'm getting better at this stamping thing (NOT lol).

Thanks so much for visiting today guys!!!

Untried Saturday No.6 - Hard Candy Lava

Sorry it's been so long for a post. I have been seriously sick with Bronchitis and Pneumonia, having to have sessions of steroid shots just to keep me from seriously dying lol.  I did do an untried this week tho - Yippeeee!!!

Hard Candy - LAVA

For whatever strange reason I thought this would be more red on the nail, and it's mostly bright orange.  Why I thought it was more red is beyond me. It's pretty clearly orange in the bottle lol.

At first I hated this color and texture completely. After about half a day, it started growing on me and I really liked it. Very sparkly and eye catching.

But then I went back to hating this again. Here is why.

* It took 3 coats and sometimes 4 for the even coverage I was looking for. Hard to explain, but every layer seemed to just 'soak in', and I would just end up not pleased and going over it.

* I did this on Thursday (trying to be ahead with being sick and all) and it's Saturday and I have already taken it off. It chipped in 3 places and broke 2 of my nails. I never have chipping EVER let alone that soon, so it was super chiptastic.

*It stained my nails bright orange which is the worst of it. I was so proud about how clear and stain free my nails where prior to applying this, and now I'm just stabby looking down at the stains.  I had a very good base coat on that prevents staining on 99.9% of my polishes.

* There is fine micro glitter everywhere upon removal. I love glitter polishes and this was just a PITA. I took it off awhile ago, and I still see sparklies stuck to my fingers all over the place no matter how much I try and clean them off with polish remover or wash my hands. I just gave up lol.

With the combo of all of the above this polish quickly went into my dislikes of all time. I probably won't ever wear this again. I know I have heard many rave about this one, but for myself I just do not likey at all.

I'm tossing this into my swap away pile, and may just give it to kids for a play polish. I would hate to trade this to an unsuspecting recipient. I hated it that much lol. But, this is the great thing about polish guys. Some of us will love some polishes that others hate, and vice-versa.

If you have this one - let me know your thoughts on it. Did you like it or hate it?

Indie Spotlight: Lynnderella Connect The Dots

I'm still in my sickly death bed, literately. I've been in bed all day and Kelly has been making sure I have everything I need. I was lucky that he had off today, and the extra TLC is much appreciated! Maybe it will help chase this nasty cold off. BUT you know I couldn't just leave my nails alone.  As much as I loved the Model's Own Grey Day mani I had on, I HAD to add my new Lynnderella Connect the Dots on top.

I purchased this on the last sale over at Llarowe. I sat at my PC and refreshed the page every few seconds for an hour straight - what we do for nail polish lol!

I didn't do anything special here. Meaning, I did not try and spread the glitter in any specific place. Usually with these type of glitters you can take out an orange stick and manipulate the glitters where you like them to fall on the nail. In this case I specifically did not push the glitters around (expect from the free edge so I wouldn't have a mess) to see how it looked 'as is'. I was pretty pleased with the 'as is' results.
