Evening everyone :) Sorry I have been MIA for a bit, but I had a few health issues that kept me away .... But I'm back, and with a Naild'it polish that is outta this world, Peace Love n Hairspray.

I started with a base color of Orly Shine, which I absolutely adore. It's a very metallic and shiny silver that is a must have for any nail polish hoarder collector.

I was originally going to do a black or white base, and I am so glad I switched it to this instead!

I think these two polishes go together amazingly well. I think a lot of times silver is neglected, and as you can see in these pictures - it shouldn't be.

I dabbed on several layers of Peace Love n Hairspray. I wanted the glitters to be really dense. 

There is a combination of white, orange, blue, red, yellow, gold, black and green glitters. WOW - Just jammed pack full of color. The shapes vary as well from Hex to square with a trace of bar glitters. This is such a fun polish!

This is a rainbow packed into a polish. The formula was excellent as well. No thinning needed.

Born Pretty Store Stud Manicure!

I been seeing a lot of stud manicures around lately, so tonight I decided to attempt one myself. This is what I came up with. Now, this is by no means perfect, but it sure was fun!

Here are the polishes I used...

L to R - Orly Shine, Manglaze Matte is Murder, Manglaze Mayo, Zoya Pixiedust Solange.

The studs are from an amazing set available at The Born Pretty Store.

The set includes nail glue, 2 wheels of studs, 1 wheel of rhinestones and a package of several orange sticks. This entire set retails for $12.99 USD!! What an amazing price.

Please note: I did not use the nail glue for my manicure, unfortunately in my attempt to use it the bottle spilled and there was nothing left of it. Instead, I placed my studs into my polish while it was still wet and everything nicely stuck in place. 

The stud surfaces are usually shiny, but I wanted a matte finish for everything, so I topped everything off with China Glaze's Matte Magic. I love how the studs mattified!

The variety of shapes and sizes included in this set are pretty mind blowing. There is so much to choose from. I just scratched the surface with a few in my manicure. The set also includes diamond, rectangle and star shapes as well. There is a great mix of gold and silver and the rhinestones come in fun color.

You can let your creativity go wild with this set. I highly recommend owning this if you are into nail art.

More Snow and a Shooting Star :)

An update on the snow storm we had here in the Midwest last week on Thursday, we got about 10 inches of snow in total. I had areas drift even higher than that. I pretty much had a death drive home from work in the afternoon on Thursday (a 20 minute drive took me an hour and 10 minutes in the worst part of the Blizzard - zero visibility), and I was snowed in Friday with lots of shoveling to do. According to The Weather Channel, the storm was called 'Q'....um yeah, I still don't get where they come up with these crazy names lol. I understand the alphabetical system, but Q.  Someone must of been a JAMES BOND fan :)

The kicker...a second storm is headed this way for Monday and Tuesday, with maybe more snow than the first...GAH, seriously lol. I feel like both storms are somewhat my fault though, let me explain. I'm originally from New York, and when I heard they were getting hit with Nemo, I was was jealous of all the snow they were getting. I miss having BIG snow storms. Here in Missouri we really don't get big storms normally. I told my husband I was jealous and I wanted 20 inches of snow here too. He said, "not in this lifetime, we never get snow like that" hehehe.  Well, as this new storm, Rocky, approaches (lol...seriously ROCKY?, it should of been 'M') they are predicting up to 12 inches. We still have 10 inches on the ground so with the 12, that is OVER 20 inches. My husband now blames me, haha. He says it's all my fault because I asked for it :) 

My last snow nails post went horrible. I thought the polish I used was called  Light Snow, only to find out the correct name was Light Show, lol. It was pretty disastrous to say the least. Since we are getting more snow, I'm determined to do another snow manicure, and get the name right this time. I have the PERFECT Polish.

This time I'm using Rainbow Polish, Shooting Star. Okay it has nothing to do with snow lol, but it gave me the look I wanted. This was a Limited Edition Fundraiser polish offered way back in 2012. I have seen it randomly pop up on Rainbow Polish's Etsy site here and there since, so I can't be sure if it will be back or not. This brand has quickly became part of my top 5 Indie Brands.  Here is Shooting Star layered over 2 coats of Orly Au Champagne.

This reminds me of the snow when you first wake in the morning and everything is frozen over and glistening in the sun, when everything is untouched and the snow really sparkles. The Holo glitters in this are glorious. You can see all the colors that reflect off the stars and hex glitters. There is also a fine micro glitter in the base, and together everything is just WOW!

I'm ready for the snow so bring it on, lol. The formula on this (and my other RP's) was a dream to apply. They are slightly thick, but I like them that way so I have better control brushing on the glitters. A few drops of thinner can also be used if needed. I can not get over how great this came out. 

There is even Holo bar glitter in this. I know a lot of you dislike bar glitter, but I love it. There is the perfect amount scattered in it. This is just Holo heaven in a bottle.

Trelly's M.I.S.C Polish - Zero

I promised I would start my Halloween polishes early, I have so many that I have to start early or I will not get them all used before the 31st! I will have a few other (non-halloween) post as well if I'm able to squeeze them in. It will be an exciting fun month here at TPH. I wanted to start on Oct 1st, so let's all pretend today is the 1st, okay :) 

Today I used Zero by Trelly's M.I.S.C Polishes. I purchased this when she first released her Halloween collection, which can be found on her Etsy store HERE. I layered it over Orly's Enchanted Forest, which is a gorgeous deep dark green.

Also, I now have nubbins hehehe. I usually like to keep them as short as possible, but lately I did let them grown. Of course I had a break, so my nubbins are back!!!

How incredible is this!!!! My pictures do not even do this justice. Between the super sparkly orange hex glitter and the shimmer in the smaller glitters, it is just beyond fabulous. Here is the description from Trelly's Etsy Store...

Zero is a part of the Halloween Collection. Inspired by Nightmare Before Christmas' Zero the polish is ghostly with a pop of orange for his nose!! It has white and orange glitter in a shimmery clear base. 

You can clearly see by the bottle shot below how different this is, I LOVE IT!!!

 

I also love the large square glitters and the heart glitters.  How can you not fall in love with a Halloween polish with hearts in it lol.

I had so many compliments on this today. I work in a bank so people see my nails a lot, but only certain polishes bring out lots of compliments like this one did.

One of the greatest things about this polish is the glitters (including the hearts) are FLAT FLAT FLAT. No issues with lumps and bumps at all. You gotta love that. I didn't have to dig for anything, everything was just on the brush. This had an incredible formula. I did use thinner, but you really have to on all Indie polishes. Uncut base it VERY thick and you do have to treat it right.

Hope you guys like this. For those who own this and for those that purchase this, you will see the incredible pow wow that my poor little camera didn't pick up and you will not be disappointed.

Review of Naild'it Girls Gone Wild in Camo

As promised, here is Orly Buried Alive all blinged out :) I decided to use Naild'it Girls Gone Wild In Camo. I wanted something Fall oriented, and this works perfectly for the look I was going for.

There are so many fun colors in this polish. It's so unique that I'm going to use the description from Naild'it for this one...

Girls Gone Wild in Camo is a loaded glitter nail polish with browns, tans, blacks, greens, with hints of "hunter" orange, and everything girly pinks and reds... and last but not least gun metal (of course).

The color is unlike anything else I have. 

Sometimes people complain that indies can start to all look the same after a while, but this one stands on it's own for me.

How pretty is this?! I love the pinks so much more than I expected I would in this combo. I think it's perfect for a Fall look, even with the pinks added. The gorgeous green and orange glitters make it very Fall like for me.

Just so you guys know, my pics above only have one thin coat of Grand Central Station top coat. I got so excited, I took pics before I put on my final top coat of Seche Vite to smooth it all out (rookie mistake lol). I usually do one thin coat of Grand Central Station, one thin coat of Seche Vite, and one last THICK coat of Seche Vite. It works for me for getting a smooth glass finish with no 'shrinkage' that Seche Vite is famous for (when polish pulls away from the free edge and looks like the ends are worn). It's now 100% smooth on me with no shrinkage - yippee!!!

Orly Buried Alive

Today I have on probably one of my new favorite polishes EVER, Orly's Buried Alive. I didn't go out specifically looking for this polish, I just happened to get lucky and get this in the clearance section at Sally's Beauty Supply. It was on clearance for 2.99$ USD, and the sales associated used my Sally's Card and ended up discounting it further. It was under 2.00$ USD!!! This was the deal of a lifetime. I will never over look the clearance section at Sally's Beauty Supply again lol.

This is a beautiful polish. It has a gold shimmer in it that is to die for! Unfortunately, it does have it's down sides. It was really difficult to apply for me. The formula was a very very thick consistency.  I had to thin this polish a lot to get it to be workable for me. I used over 10 drops of thinner, which is a lot of thinner for one time use on a polish. Once I gave it a good shake after adding the thinner it was  a bit easier to apply, but still not perfect. The first coat is VERY streaky, but it does evens out in two coats. I was able to get most of the brush strokes to vanish. The picture above is one thin coat and one thicker coat to finish it off.

As much as this was difficult to apply, I am still in love with this polish and it is still in my new favorites list of all time. The color is that stunning! 

In most lighting you can see that stunning gold shimmer. This polish is like mind blowing!!! I can not rave about it enough, even with it's terrible formula. It's the perfect chocolate color. 

I usually cover polishes up right away with a glitter indie, but I'm leaving this one alone for at least until tomorrow. Have no fears, I will add a Indie Glitter to it so stay tuned for an update to this manicure lol...

Does you guys like this? I love brown polishes on my skin tone and I honestly can say this is the best brown I have found to date, do you guys agree?

When I get bored I ...

First I wanted to thank everyone that expressed concerns about me being sick. Today I am feeling much much better and I appreciate all the well wishes.

This is what happens when I get bored. Kelly brought me a bunch of nail art stuff to play with, and I was really bored...so I attacked my Vday Mani lol. It wasn't tacky enough, so I kicked it up some :)

I'm just experimenting before I take this mani off tomorrow. This is the best time to test new things and try new techniques. It's also the best time to practice stamping too. On an old mani that you are about to remove.

This is what I did to it. It's my first time using scotch tape for making tips and the lines are wayyyy off lol, but I really tossed this on for fun and I thought I would share my craziness with you.

Maybelline Colorama Happiness - Sonic Sunset

I just have a quick post for tonight.  I spent my entire day out in my yard mowing, digging, cleaning up, planting, power washing the drive and on and on. I love spending time outside, so I have a whole game plan for the summer of outside projects and started today.  I even helped my neighbor transplant a tree today as well. I feel pretty dead to the world right now hahaha. EVERYTHING HURTS, but I snuck in a quick mani refresh today on a break lol. I had on Orly Happily Ever After and I refreshed it with my Maybelline Colorama Sonic Sunset.  Flakie LOVE!!!! I have serious tip wear, but I blame the yard work for that hahaha.

PURE LOVE

OMG I so love these Flakies. I could probably use this topcoat on every creme mani I do. The best part is I got this as a extra in a swap.  I can't tell you how sweet and kind that is.  I love it!

Minty Swatches

Today and Yesterday I did some swatches of my Minty Polishes and of course one day was pouring rain and one day was bright and sunny, so my pictures are all crazy lol.

The Nicole OPI Hint of Mint is actually a shimmer, but I wanted to add it in for color comparison so it was close to the other polishes I compared.  All the other formulas are cremes.  The Maybelline Minty had the same application issue that most had. It started out very lumpy and gritty, but evened out in the third coat (odd). Icing Mint 2 Be was the worst formula ever for me.  I actually hated it lol. It was so thick and gloppy that no amount of thinner could save it. I struggled with this color the most out of the three.  Finally, The Nicole applied the nicest (like a dream actually).  The color is very sheer and this was four coats to make it opaque, but it's a lovely soft mint and I love it!

For Audrey and Gumdrop almost look close, but as you can see above the For Audrey has a darker tint then the Orly Gumdrop which has a paler tint. The China Glaze formula was lovely and I had no issues with application.  The Orly Gumdrop was HORRIBLE in application lol.  I think I need to use the hate word again.  I can't decide if I hated the Icing from my first set of swatches or the Orly more. There fighting it out for worst application issues ever. You can see the sloppy mess of it on my nail, (center nail), and I didn't even bother trying to clean it up.  I just got frustrated and let it be. Oddly enough I did a full mani with the Orly Gumdrop last week and it seemed fine, but this time I was not liking it. The Essie Greenport applied great!!! Out of all the formulas I liked it best. It is the darkest formula, but it basically applied itself. So which is your favorite? I love to know what you all think!

Goody Goody Gumdrops

I finally got around to using my Orly Gumdrop polish.  I totally love this color!  When I first started collecting these type of minty colored polishes I was worried they wouldn't look good on my skin - but wow was I wrong.  It's PURE LOVE! I was hoping for a pretty outside sunlight picture but I have been pretty sick today and missed what little sun we had.  I had to do this under florescent lights. 

On a side note: I'm not sure if you can see this in the photo, but there are serious drip marks down the entire bottle.  I have to admit today was my first major polish spilling accident *YIKES*.  The worst part was it was on my new bed comforter. A pretty expensive Steve Madden set.  Let's put it this way, umm I wasn't thrilled it happened.  I ended up getting pretty lucky and spilling most of it on the white parts and with a lil polish remover and a ton of elbow grease I got most of it up, and averted major comforter death lol.

NCAA Konad Design

I'm not sure about the rest of you, but my household has been glued to the NCAA Basketball March Madness Tournament the last several days. Like faces nail glued to the TV screen :P

Speaking of Basketball, here is my Konad design I created for Basketball this week. I only just started Konading and this is just my second attempt and I wanted to do something Basketball oriented. The base color is Nicole by O.P.I. Fresh Squeezed which is part of their new 2010 Spring release that just came out. I came across this at my Shopko, but they can also be found at Walmart. Make sure you check the core line racks at Walmart - I don't believe they have the special display.

This was done on a 4 day old Manicure so it's not top notch. It's pretty much faded and grown out but I think this is the best way to test Konad when you are new at it like myself. Instead of removing the manicure I Konad on it, and get one more day of wear. If I mess up the practice Konad, then I take everything off as originally planned. So far the method has worked the last two times with no fails :)
