O Christmas Tree - Candy Lacquer

Today I am wearing a super fun polish from Candy Lacquer. It's called O Christmas Tree..how perfect is that! Now don't look too close guys lol. I do A LOT of cooking on the day before Christmas Eve and my hands were in water and preparing food all day. I always wait til after I finish cooking to do my nails so it's when they look there worst :)

This is sooooooooo fun and festive. It really reminds me of a big ole Christmas tree. This is one coat of OPI Red with two dabbed coats of O Christmas Tree.

I did have to fish out the stars in this one and place them, but that is the same case with all star shaped glitter polishes no matter who makes them. The great part is you can leave out the star glitters if you don't like them.

I feel like I have bright Christmas lights on my fingers lol. Also, I can not stop singing the song in my head...
O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!
Thy leaves are so unchanging
O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!
Thy leaves are so unchanging
Not only green when summer's here,
But also when 'tis cold and drear.
O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!
Thy leaves are so unchanging!
It just keeps playing over and over in my head when I look down at my nails. How super awesome fun and festive.

I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Holiday. I also say a little prayer for those that are not so fortunate. I hope to be back tomorrow for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but I make no promises. Similar to many of you Family will be a priority and I will post both days if I can. If I'm not back, please have a wonderful Christmas Eve and Day!

Rockin around the Tree - Naild'it

I have to say this was probably the hardest manicure that I ever had to photograph. I wanted something really different, but my camera just didn't want to play too nice tonight.

This is two coats of OPI Jade is the New Black layered with one solid coat of Naild'it Rockin Around the Tree. You can find this at Naild'it's Etsy shop here. They are currently on vacation so I can not promise that this will still be offered after the Holiday. I then topped everything with Hard Candy Matte Top Coat. The polish lost it's JADE color and turned more green once I started layering it, which is exactly what I was hoping for.

It is really difficult to see in the photos, but once matted there is a gorgeous light green glitter that shines and stands out from all the darker green glitters. It is so pretty.

It came out exactly how I wanted it to.

If you have not yet tried using a matte top coat on a glitter, you are really missing out. The depth of the glitter once it is matted is amazing, and not to be missed.  If you look carefully at my pinky finger you can see the different color glitters that are hiding.  I didn't see all the amazing color shades of the glitter until I used a Matte coat.

Again, this was a really tough polish to capture, but I promise it is beautiful.  Hope you guys like this and hope anyone in the path of Draco stayed safe today. Here in Missouri we had wind gusts hitting close to 60mph. There was a white out blizzard here most of the day and the wind has been howling non stop. I'm hoping by morning it is all gone.

Thanks for visiting :)

No Elfing Way

Evening everyone!

Tonight I have a super cool polish for you guys. This is No Elfing Way by Naild'it, and it is a LLarowe exclusive, meaning it can only be purchased at this LINK. As of tonight while I post this, the polish is still in stock and available.

This is three coats of my favorite green OPI nails polish, Greenwich Village, topped with 2 dabbed on coats of No Elfing Way.

This polish had CRAZY glitters of all shapes and colors. There is no taco glitters here. It's totally smooth with two coats of Seche Vite. This is like a serious glitter party on your fingers.

I'm a glitter junky and this one is right up my ally lol. The formula was really easy to use. I dabbed on two coats and I did not have to use any thinner.
Dabbing on the glitters helps to evenly disperse the glitters and allows you to 'place' the glitters where you want them to fall. I notice if I keep the brush somewhat on the dry side, more glitter sticks to the nail with the base color.

I also swatched this over a dark deep green and it looked equally as awesome.

If you haven't tried Naild'it, I highly recommend this brand. I have tons of these polishes and love ALL of them. There is not one yet that has disappointed me or let me down.

I hope you guys like this as much as I do. I LOVE IT!!!

Sweet Heart Pastello - Naild'it

Evening everyone,

First, I want to apologize for my last post. I featured Poison Apple by Once Upon a Polish, and did not even realize she closed up shop. SO Sorry. Sad to have seen that shop go, I have several OUP's and I wanted so many more, sighhhs....It just stresses the importance of grabbing an Indie polish when you first see it and fall in love. The shades come and go, and unfortunately the shops do too.

On a happier note, on to tonight's post. I'm featuring Sweet Heart Pastello by Naild'it. This color is a Mei Mei's Signatures exclusive, and can only be purchased at the following link HERE.

This is an amazing awesome pistachio colored polish. VERY VERY unique in color. It is unlike any other shade I own.

This is three coats of Sweet Heart Pastello on it's own. I did have to dig the hearts out on this polish, but that was pretty simple. Insert the brush in the bottle and give it a few swirls, and 9 times out of 10 a heart will stick. I just placed them with a toothpick.

This polish has super pretty green, red, gold, and lavender glitters. Some surface very brightly and others say inbeded in the polish like a sandwich. I love these types of polishes, you get a lot of depth.

Since this had such a pretty green and red, I thought it was perfect for my Holiday Polish swatches for this week. So Super Pretty.

I love the shimmer that is buried in this polish. You can see the shimmer in the above picture on my ring finger, so very delicate and pretty.

So super pretty and shimmery. I look forward to wearing this to work tomorrow. My favorite part is the color combo of the glitters and all the different shapes.

What do you guys think? Does anyone have this one in there collection? I ended up liking it so much more than I originally thought I would. I love surprises like this.

As of today this is still available and in stock at the above link in the beginning of the post. Make sure you stay tuned for more Holiday polishes that will continue until Christmas Day!

Once Upon a Time I had a Poison Apple :)

Hi Guys,

Tonight I have a really fun polish for you. This polish is from Once Upon a Polish and it's called Poison Apple. All the polish I own from Once Upon a Polish are amazing. I did not know much about this Indie Polish maker when I originally ordered from them, it was just on order on a whim. I'm really glad I had that whim, they are fabulous to say the least.

UPDATE: When I originally posted this I had no idea that Once Upon a Polish closed up shop :( So sad to hear this, thus this polish is no longer available.

This is sparkly in your face glitter, and I love it!!! For those of use that have spent ALL our money on gifting presents for Christmas and have no money left for polish for ourselves, a polish like this is PERFECT. It's shiny and red 'Rudolph like', but not part of any 'Christmas' collection.  This is 2 coats of OPI Off Dreaming of Red with two coats of Poison Apple. Kelly helped me pick the base coat on this one :)

This was a polish I purchased months ago for no special reason, and it's perfect for Christmas. Tomorrow I'm going to the Mall in St Louis with my sweetie and we are having a shopping spree day. I wanted to wear something special. Kelly is feeling so much better, us going to the mall and shopping will be so fun. We split up and shop for each other, and then meet up at the end and head home lol.

I want to again thank all of you that have asked about Kelly and how he is doing. He is recovering well, and I am excited about kicking back and enjoying the up coming Holiday with him. I feel really blessed this Holiday Season to have him here.

This is going to be so fun to wear for the day tomorrow. I start my day out early working from 7am til noon, and then Kelly picks me up and takes me off to St Louis (about an hour and half away) to shop our heads off lol. I'm so excitied about it!!! I need to pick up a few last minute surprises for him!

Hope you guys like this!!! Stay tuned as the blog will be filled with Holiday Themed polishes all this week, and next week until Christmas.

I would love to hear what you guys think about this. Please leave your comments below, I love to hear what you guys have to say :)

Naild'it - Don't Be Blue

Hi,

I'm back with a gorgeous polish for your viewing pleasure. This is Don't Be Blue by Naild'it. I haven't done my nails in a long while since my Jet nails on Nov 18th, close to a month!!!  I finally got my nails done tonight :) This is exactly what I needed. Thanks Andrea!!! I was so thrilled to find this in my nail mail this past week.

UPDATE: This polish is a one of a kind. This was created just for me by Andrea, the owner of Naild'it, to help me get through everything that has happened over the past few months. It can not be purchased anywhere.

I promised you guys that after my husbands heart attack that I would do my best to get back here and bring the blog back to normal. This is my start. I have a bunch more Naild'it to show you over the next few weeks.  Stay tuned between now and Christmas for some major polish :)
This is 2 coats of MACS Blue India layered with 2 dabbed on coats of Don't Be Blue. The sparkle on this one is outta this world!

Don't look too close at my cuticles, they really are in bad shape. This is probably the worse I have ever seen them lol. Once I start doing my nails more frequently, they will bounce back.

I love the large iridescent hex glitters in this. My pictures can not capture the colors that flash off the larger hexes.

I will be wearing this for work tomorrow :) I love it!

The scattered smaller black glitters and square iridescent glitters make this different then all other Indies I own.

It was easy to apply with the *dabbing method*. The glitters stuck to the brush well and application was a breeze. Hope you guys like it - Thanks for coming to visit!

*This polish was created for me and can not be purchased at this time*

Monster Mash in November lol

This afternoon I have another fabulous Candy Lacquer Polish to show you guys. This was part of the Halloween 2012 collection and is named Monster Mash :)

I'm actually at work right now. I started back at work yesterday and today will probably be our busiest day ever. I wanted a cute polish for the day since a lot of people see my hands at my job. I have all fall colors on for Thanksgiving, so this combo was perfect!

The base color is three coats of Kelly Green from Claire's. This is a fabulous jelly polish. It kind of reminds me of a lighter version of Nars Zulu. It is not  as black green as Zulu, it's a Kelly green. Plus, it's my hubby's name (Kelly) so how can I get any more perfcet then that lol.

Many of us in the U.S will be spending the tonight pre cooking for Thanksgiving. I work til 6PM, but I too will be over my stove this evening baking and prepping dishes as soon as I get home. I do not wear polish during cooking (this will come off just before I start cooking so I can enjoy it at work all day).

Polish and cooking should never be mixed. There is too great a chance that something will get into the food. Especially with a fine glitter polish like this, one glitter can ruin a meal lol.

Check out this pretty close up of the glitters in this polish...

After I finish cooking tonight, I will then put on my polish of choice for Thanksgiving day. I do not do any food prepping on Thanksgiving day itself. All of my dishes are pre done in the refrigerator the days before and then just pop them in the oven. Kelly carves the turkey and does the last minute prep stuff (slicing bread, warming graving etc) so I will have polish on for Thanksgiving Day. It shouldn't pose a health hazard or anything hahaha. Stay tuned to see what it is....

What do you guys plan on wearing for Thanksgiving and Black Friday? I would love to hear your thoughts below in the comments.

Candy Lacquer Nail of the day...

As most of you know, I'm pretty much obsessed with Candy Lacquer Nail polishes. I own so many, I have lost count lol. As you many of you know, I'm continuing on with my Halloween/Fall polishes until the end of November.

Today is one of my favorites so far. This quickly pushed into my top rated polishes for Candy Lacquer. This is Candy Lacquer Witches' Brew. The base color I used is OPI's Vampire State Building, one of my favorite older black label OPI's. This is two coats OF VSB with two coats of Witches' Brew on top.

To me, this reminds me of a gorgeous wine. It was stunning to say the least. The glitters in this are a fine matte orange, true purple and black. Once I added this over the wine color of VSB, it was really amazing. This just shouted fall colors to me!

This is definitely not just a Halloween Polish as you can see above. I am so glad I added this to my collection before it was gone. Since Halloween is passed, it's unfortunately not being sold anymore.

This polish was a little on the thick side, so I did thin it with 5-6 drops of nail polish thinner.

These type of polishes look so pretty close up. I love how each color stands out on it's own.

So what do you guys think of this one? Good or Bad? And if you hate, please let me know why? Love to hear everyon's thougts.

Also, please stay tuned for another post mid day tomorrow. I do have work and a TON of Thanksgiving Day cooking to do tomorrow, but regardless I will still have fun nails to see!

Dual Purpose Nails - Candy Lacquer Bad Moon

Hi Guys,

I'm here with NAILS finally :) I want to thank you all again for being so faithful and patient. Tomorrow, Kelly and I are going to a Football Game :) He has made such great progress, this will be a real treat for him. He is supposed to be doing a lot of walking for his rehab, so the Stadium will be the perfect place for us to keep up with his required daily walking that we do every day.

I'm a BIG NFL Jets fan (I'm originally from New York), so when the JETS come here to the Mid-West they can not be missed lol. Kelly got me the tickets for my birthday in early September, and we both decided we are still going. The only thing I have to do is make sure he is fed before the game, because all that greasy yucky stadium food is a big no-no. We are both healthy eaters to begin with, so we usually skip stadium food as a rule of thumb anyway.

I wasn't sure how to pick up here at the blog since I have been absent so long, but with the help of YOU GUYS (on Facebook) you helped me to decide I'm going to just pick up where I left off. I will be doing Halloween/Fall polishes until the end of November. Then, December 1st I will switch over to Christmas Polishes.

My Halloween polish for today (lol - strange to say in Mid November) is Bad Moon from Candy Lacquer. It serves as a dual purpose polish for my Jets game too. It's my teams colors of white, black and green! The base coat is 2 coats of My Boyfriend Scales Walls by OPI.

(please note - My trial version of Photoshop Elements 11 has expired, and I will be purchasing it soon, so my normal graphics are on a small Hiatus lol).

I love how this turned out. I did not have to fish for the moons at all. Moons are my signature logo here at TPH, so you know I freaked out when I saw this polish and had to have it. I also love shredded glitter.

I have not done my nails since Kelly's Heart Attack on Oct 24th, so do not look too close lol. I did not take care of my cuticles at all during my absence. I just didn't have the time to worry about my nails as Kelly was recovering. All my focus was on him and getting him on his feet again. I will need a little bit of time to get my cuticles looking good again lol.

I'm excited about the Football game tomorrow. Now my nails will look awesome with all my green and white Jets Gear :)

Thanks for visiting guys and stay tuned for some more giveaway postings coming soon.

Update

A quick Update ...I posted this on Facebook and wanted to share it here too!
As most of you know already my SO (now my husband), had a heart attack on Oct 24th. Some really freaking scary stuff. He eats healthy and keeps in shape, never even gets sick...... and then this. I think I was in shock more than anything else. If I hadn't called 911 when I did, he would not be here. His heart stopped 2 minutes after the EMT's arrived. 2 minutes - that's how close it came. We met with the EMT and Paramedic (Mark and Mike) that first responded that night, and they are awesome. After sitting and chatting with them for a whole afternoon, it makes me further realize how blessed I am for Kelly to still be here with us.

Kelly is now doing MUCH better. He has went from not being able to put on shoes and socks himself to now walking, driving again, almost full normal activity again. We both want to thank all of you that sent GET WELL wishes. It was super touching and so appreciated. I feel very blessed to have such sweet and loving followers. Kelly continues to get stronger each day and with his rehab he starts tomorrow - we are well on our way. 12 weeks of bootcamp for him now lol.

The last few days have been finally feeling back to normal for me, some what lol. I'm wanting to get back on track with the blog, and it's been a challenge. I'm so outta of the loop and not even sure how to jump back in ....I was in the middle of Halloween swatching, that I can no longer do. I feel off track and lost :) I have some new fall polishes, so just working it all out in my head now. Any comeback suggestions would be great lol.

Thank so much for your continued support, and keep your eyes open for me. I have a few ideas for my comeback :)

ALSO - I will be announcing winners tomorrow night for my open contests. I had a few that were still open and I will do my best to contact winners for a seriously expired giveaway. Tomorrow I will post about that - try and have that all fixed.

See you guys soon!

Where is The Polish Hoochie?

Hi Guys,

I'm sure you are all wondering where I have been. I had a bunch of polishes I wanted to swatch for Halloween....

I am here to tell you I am still here, but I had a terrible incident occur Tuesday evening. My Significant Other, Kelly, had a massive Heart Attack Tuesday of this past week. He was air lifted from our home in efforts to save his life. He was revived 3 times prior to being air lifted, and I was sure that was the last night I would see him alive. His life was hanging on a thread. Thanks to my local EMT's, Air Vac team, and Doctors and Nurses they saved his life. He had a 100% blockage on his right main artery and 95% blockage on his left main artery. The Doctor said it was miracle he was alive. He basically fought hard to stay alive.

After many uncertain hours, many sleepless nights, and many countless hours spending praying for his life, God was good and did not take him from me, it just wasn't his time. I feel very blessed that he remains in our lives.

We returned home from the hospital. Kelly is doing really good, but we have a long way to go for full recovery. I have to be his full-time nurse for a bit. We will be involved in a Cardio Rehabilitation Program for the next 12 weeks for 3 days a week, in addition to countless hours of Cardiologist appointments.

I had posted this on Facebook, and I want to thank all of you that sent out Prayers and good wishes. Keep praying as Kelly has a long recovery. I hope you guys understand that here and my Facebook have to go silent for awhile. I will be here when I can :) Thanks guys!!!!

Trelly's M.I.S.C Trick or Trelly

Tonight we continue on with the Halloween polishes. I am going to try really hard to get ALL my Halloween polishes up before the 31st, but I make no promises lol. I also dressed the blog up for Halloween and I hope you guys like it. It's very obnoxious with colors, but Halloween is supposed to be flashy right?? lol.

Tonight I have Trelly's M.I.S.C.'s Trick or Trelly. How cute is that name, lol!! It's so perfect and so creative. I easily fall in love with polishes with cute names.

This is two coats of Model's Own Green Grass with two/three dabbed coats of Trick or Trelly. This is topped off with one thick coat of Seche Vite fast drying top coat.

I love bar glitter, and I know a lot of you just cringed lol. Bar glitters are not bad if you know how to apply them properly. I love how they add to the round and hex glitters in this.

BAR GLITTER TIP: I hate when you brush on bar glitter and they all point the same direction. TRY THIS. When you brush on a bar glitter, brush them on from cuticle to free edge AND then side to side as well. It helps to get your bar glitters pointing in different directions and not all the same (which does not look so great).

I love Trelly's, and this is no exception :) I purchased this off her ETSY shop, but Cassie, the owner, has moved over to Big Cartel. Check her new shop out HERE.

No need to fish for any glitters here, they easily stuck to the brush.  I did not thin this polish I usually do. The formula was thick, but for dabbing polish on it's better to have some thickness.

This is gorgeous and sparkly and one of my favorites that I have purchased for this Halloween season.

I will have more Trelly's up from the Fall Line as well, as soon as I get through all the Halloween ones LOL!!! :)

Hope you guys like this. Please leave your thoughts below. I look forward to reading everyone's comments every day!

Review of Trelly's M.I.S.C Oogie Boogie...Do You Believe in Magic?

Do you guys believe in Magic? I actually do after today...and Magic from Claire's.

I have no idea why I have never used this, but this polish is pretty AMAZING!!! I purchased this at Claire's quite a long time ago, I'm not even sure they still make it? I will let the pictures speak for themselves...

This is three coats with no top coat. I was applying glitter so I didn't top coat it in between.

This has a gorgeous dark purple color with a lighter purple shimmer that is very visable.

Crazy gorgeous for sure, isn't it? I then topped it with Trelly's M.I.S.C Oogie Boogie. This polish is from Cassie's 2012 Halloween Collection and you can still purchase this at Trelly's Big Cartel Shop HERE.

My camera was confused at the gorgeous glitter here lol. It was tough to get my camera to appreciate the real look of this. I can not even explain how outrageous and glittery this is. In person its 1000 times more gorgeous.

This is 2 dabbed on coats of Oogie Boogie. I did not thin this because I wanted the glitters to be very chunk. Everything stuck to the brush super easy and there was no digging involved.

In the light it is BLINDING, in a good way :) I could not stop staring at this.

I topped this of with one coat of Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter Food and one coat of Seche Vite. Smooth operator :)

WOW is my reaction to this one. What do you guys think?

*Oogie Boogie polish sent to me for honest review*

Rainbow Polish Monarch

I actually did this manicure Sunday morning in my hotel room and I did it in like 5 minutes. I didn't do any cleanup and it was rush rush. I lost track of time and had no choice but to rush it out. We needed to get on the road, and I did not want to delay things if I could help it. Things aren't always so perfect, and it's not up to my regular standards, but I still wanted to share it with you all. Things can't always be perfect lol.

I knew I wanted to use purple as a base when I purchased this. The sample swatch that was shown on the Rainbow Polish Etsy Store HERE used purple, and for this one I wanted to duplicate the look.

This is two coats of BB Couture Joker (the perfect purple for Halloween) and one coat of Rainbow Polish Monarch. I love the way the colors pop against the purple background. This polish would also be awesome over a white base.

I loved the consistancy of this polish. It was really easy to work with and gave me no issues. I was greatful, since I was such in a rush to have to apply it.

Rainbow polishes are my new indie obsession, I really do love them. I have several others, including Pheasant that I won on their Facebook contest so you guys will be seeing more of these.

These glitters lay so flat, and I was really pleased with the polish over all. I only have a really thin coat of Seche Vite on these, I didn't have time for much more, and it feels very smooth.

Thanks for visiting tonight. I'm hoping that I can get a second post up tonight. I'm trying real hard to get all my Halloween polishes up before the 31st, but I make no promises lol.
